A blessing gesture, cast in clay, that catches falling smoke. This backflow burner is shaped as a raised hand in mudra, cradling a pale lotus at its base, all framed by a flowing loop of traditional purple clay. Light a cone at the peak above and the smoke descends through the channel, draping over the lotus petals like mist settling on a mountain pond. At 22 cm tall it commands an altar, tea table or meditation corner – decorative sculpture by day, slow ceremony by evening.

1. Place the burner on a stable, heat-safe surface away from drafts.
2. Light a backflow incense cone and set it at the top channel.
3. Blow out the flame and let the smoke pour down over the lotus.
4. Let it cool fully before moving; empty ash after use.

Product size: 16 × 5 × 22 cm

Purple clay (zisha), traditional handcraft Included in the box: 1 × backflow incense burner (cones not included)

Hand-rinse with water only once fully cooled; no soap or abrasives on unglazed purple clay, which absorbs scents and deepens with age. Empty ash after every session. Keep the top channel clear so smoke flows downward. Place on a coaster – the clay base can mark polished wood.

Backflow cones – the hollow base sends smoke down through the channel. Regular sticks burn fine too, just without the waterfall.

Backflow cones produce cooler, denser smoke that sinks through the burner's channel and pools over the lotus before dispersing.

Yes – it's made from traditional zisha-style purple clay, unglazed, so the surface ages and deepens with use.

It's designed for it – the mudra hand, lotus and open loop read as a sculpture on any altar, shelf or tea table.
