Heart-Shaped Stainless Steel Gua Sha

Gua sha is the practice of using a smooth-edged tool to work along the face and neck with light, directional strokes. Stainless steel holds a slight chill longer than stone alternatives. Many people find that cool temperature is part of what makes the practice feel like a reset.

This tool is heart-shaped, giving it a curved concave edge on one side useful for contouring around the jaw and cheekbone, and a convex edge on the other better for the forehead and neck. The 3mm thickness gives it enough weight to feel substantial without being tiring to hold for five minutes.

At 8.5 x 5.5cm, it fits in a palm or a travel bag. Stainless steel cleans easily, does not absorb bacteria the way porous stone can, and requires no conditioning or oiling.

1. Apply a small amount of facial oil, serum, or moisturizer to clean skin. Enough to allow the tool to glide without dragging.
2. Hold the scraper at a 30 to 45 degree angle to the skin.
3. Work in upward and outward strokes following the natural lines of the face:
Neck: upward from collarbone toward jaw
Jaw: outward from chin toward ear
Cheekbone: outward from nose toward temple
Forehead: upward from brow toward hairline
4. Use light to medium pressure. This is not a deep tissue tool.
5. Three to five strokes per area. Five minutes total is a complete routine.
6. Wipe clean with a damp cloth after use.
